It all started on April 3, 2024, doing a transport from Crystal River. There was no foster available at the time, so we offered to temporarily foster him. (As Bernie never wanted a boy dog, this would not be an issue!!) Well, Ruger was an absolute charmer in the car and started melting our hearts even before we got him home. It took him no time to settle into our home, and our two labs (Sandy and Shelby) welcomed him as well. A few days later, we met with potential adopters at the park. We could tell that the "bond" was just not there, and the next day they called to say he was not what they were looking for. We were thrilled as we called Pat, the district coordinator, and told her we wanted to adopt him. Since then, he has just become a sweet, gentle dog that demands nothing but loving company. Sometimes you find a soul mate when you're not looking! He is absolutely the best big boy! He was chosen to be the cover boy for the April 2025 calendar. Here he is befriending Lisa, the photographer and melting her heart as well.
