This is where it all happens! As an Adoption Counselor (AC), you will play a central role in guiding Labrador Retrievers from rescue to forever homes. ACs review adoption applications, perform home visits and veterinary reference checks, and approve potential adopters. Once an adopter is approved, the AC helps ensure the perfect match between dog and family, making this one of the most rewarding roles in our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process adoption applications
- Conduct home visits and vet checks for prospective adopters
- Approve qualified adopters based on rescue criteria
- Use information gathered to match dogs with the best possible families
- Serve as the liaison between foster families and adopters
- Facilitate communication when a potential match is identified
- Prepare and finalize adoption contracts
Requirements:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to interact with people in a professional, compassionate manner
- Basic computer skills (for reviewing applications and preparing contracts)
- Commitment to timely follow-up with fosters and adopters
- Familiarity with Labrador Retrievers or rescue work is a plus (training provided)
